The mission of

Heartland Chamber Music

is to connect, engage, and inspire

students of all ages through a

 lifetime of musical education and

We are passionate about
chamber music and
invested in developing talent!

Our faculty can be found
performing and teaching in most of
the arts organizations in Kansas City: The Kansas City Symphony,
Kansas City Chamber Orchestra,
UMKC, Park University and others.

Our organization began as Heartland Chamber Music in 2001 to realize our dream of offering a quality chamber music summer festival using the many resources we have available in Kansas City.

During the past 15 years we have served over 3,800 students, presented over 142 concerts and have expanded our chamber music programming to serve students year-round who are beginning, intermediate, advanced and the young artist. The Heartland Chamber Music Festival has grown into a nationally recognized summer music festival hosting the Miami String Quartet and Ivan Chan as resident artists, making Kansas City a destination for chamber music in the summer. Our Students have won international chamber music awards including the Julliard String Quartet Seminar, The Ellen Battell Stoeckel Fellowship Award, 2011 Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, Yale University International Chamber Music Ensemble Competition in Boston, MTNA Chamber Music Ensemble Competition, The Kansas City Symphony's Young Artist Competition and The Kocian International Violin Competition.

Johnson County Community College Performing Arts Series Arts Education program is our community partner that embraces our artistic vision and generously donates their time and facilities to accommodate our summer festivals. We are also grateful to Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church and Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral for their support and for hosting many of our chamber music concerts throughout the year.

We realize our mission by offering the following educational programs:

Heartland Chamber Music is an award-winning student chamber music Academy in the heart of Kansas City. Each summer over 100 string and piano students, ages 8-26 from all over the world gather for the Heartland Chamber Music Festival in Overland Park, Kansas at Johnson County Community College. Students receive instruction from internationally renowned music faculty and present free summer concerts in Yardley Hall. Our music school provides year-round chamber music education, and private lessons in both Suzuki and the traditional method, taking place at the Barstow School. Our young artists also have the opportunity to audition for The Camerata Chamber Orchestra for additional Outreach performance opportunities.
