When I play in an ensemble, I get a chance to build a relationship and allow something truly beautiful to flow from that relationship. - HCM student
HCM provides opportunities for young musicians from the region to come together to study chamber music, make friendships, and work as one voice towards the pursuit of excellence. Our year-round chamber music programs serve students ages 8-22 and each semester we host a guest artist masterclass and a concert connection with a prominent arts series. Concert connections include a performance before the professional concert and attending the performance as well. 2016/17 Concert Connections include Bach Collegium Japan Orchestra and Chorus (JCCC Performing Arts Series and Friends of Chamber Music) and the Takacs Quartet (Friends of Chamber Music) and The Trio Verado (JCCC Performing Arts Series).
Heartland Virtuosi Student artists ages 18 and under
Camerata Students ages 16 and under
In the fall, string students are selected by audition to participate in one of our 10-week chamber orchestras. Students are coached weekly and in true chamber music form, perform without a conductor. Each chamber orchestra is comprised of 16 student artists, this is a coveted and competitive position for young musicians, who perform both as ensemble members and as soloists.

Stringendo Students ages 8-22
Stringendo is Heartland Chamber Music's award-winning program which provides essential training to young musicians during the school year. Students are placed by audition into string and piano quartets, quintets, and trios, and each ensemble meets with one of our professional musician-coaches for 10 consecutive Saturdays each January - April, as well as one additional rehearsal per week. This chamber music program is the only one of its kind in the region and the session culminates in a performance featuring all our our student groups.
